A peaceful sunset

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Walking in the Po delta among lagoones and canals at sunset I was admiring this peaceful sunset with nice and thin cirrus clouds designed in the sky. The whole nature was withdrawn und the delta seems to be desert.

Specific Feedback

I will be glad for any advice.

Hi @Giuseppe_Guadagno . It looks like you had some nice conditions at this spot. The sky is beautiful and of course, so is the reflection. The contrast feels a little strong as the dark tones seem too dark, and the colors a bit oversaturated. The composition is interesting as there are a couple of triangles that point to the pier(?) and even the clouds angle toward it, which drives my eye toward that point of interest. I don’t know if this was intentional but I like it.

Hello @Giuseppe_Guadagno, I agree with @Bret_Edge’s assessment. I also like the way the light in the sky and reflected light lead to the pier, particularly with the sun’s reflection being right below the structure on the pier which appears to be the main subject. The colors do appear to be over saturated for my personal tastes and I would like to see more detail in the shadows. I hope it is ok but I took the liberty to download the image, decrease the contrast and brighten the blacks. I more than realize it is a matter of taste. I included the tweaked image below for you to consider.
