Description

While photographers were concentrating on Chimney Rock and Courthouse Mountain made famous by the 1969 movie True Grit, I wandered into the adjacent woods and shot this quiet scene.

Wiebe: A marvelous scene with great light and a fine comp. I do find the WB way too warm and would commend cooling it considerably. You might not need to take all of the yellow out but I think you can still maintain the soft warm light effect even if you drop the temperature quite a bit. Well seen and captured and glad to have you posting again.>=))>

Bill,
Thank you for the comments. I’ll play with that today and see what happens.
Cheers.
Wiebe

Wiebe, I agree with @Bill_Fach. This is a very warm and inviting scene that seems much too yellow, although that does make it very warmly inviting. (Aspen trunks are usually whitish.) Bill’s treatment looks more realistic, but loses the warmth

Here’s a view where I did a major yellow desaturation applied only to the Aspen trunks and some burning-in of the brightest tones in the foreground.

Lovely composition Wiebe. The foreground leaves and shadows flow nicely into the photo, carried by that wonderful s-curve of the stream.

I’m in solid agreement with @Bill_Fach and @Mark_Seaver that the color balance is off, and that getting that dialed in would greatly improve the image.
