A Terrigal Treasure

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

After spending a considerable amount of time inching closer, I finally captured this shot of a Sooty Oystercatcher at Terrigal. The bird’s vibrant orange beak and eye were striking against the calm, cloudy backdrop. The effort to get close paid off, as it allowed me to appreciate the bird’s delicate balance and natural beauty up close.

With the pose of the Oystercatcher, I think the centered presentation works well, Saundie, especially since the skyline of the rock is almost symmetrical about the center peak where it’s perched. The form of the rock and scattered molluscs add a lot to the image.

Nice image Saundie. Love seeing the orange eye so well with the orange eye ring around it. The one legged pose is pretty cool too. As Dennis states, the centered composition works well with the bird on the peak of the rock. Pleasing BG too. Well done.
