Description
I am so pleased to share this image “A Touching moment”, which is amongst winners in “10 Years of Remembering Wildlife”. I’m deeply grateful to be acknowledged among such a talented global community of photographers!
I was truly eager to be part of this book for several meaningful reasons:
• Remembering wildlife is doing the incredible work to support numerous conservation projects. Being part of this initiative offered me a way to contribute to that noble cause and give back to Mother Earth in a small but significant way.
• This is the first time Remembering Wildlife has featured the Asian elephant—a species I have dedicated over 35 years to studying and photographing. I felt a strong desire to see “my elephants” represented in such a powerful collection.
• It was also a great honour to know that two of my favourite photographers—Art Wolfe and Federico Veronesi—were part of the judging panel. Their presence added even more value to the experience.
• Finally, many of my friends have contributed to this book and I was inspired to stand alongside them and be part of this passionate and talented community.

Jagdeep - a big congratulations on this great honour! This is a very striking and compelling moment between calf and mom, and the pun is wonderful. The recognition validates all your work and photos of your elephants over the years.
Truly exceptional work!
I love the photo and I love the caption Jagdeep. Congratulations on well deserved recognition. Thank you for all you are doing, and have done for our community. I’m not sure if there is anything that can be done in B&W, but I wonder if it is possible to warm this up just a bit?
Congratulations J. for this excellent image and the reward too. The interaction here is wonderful. Your work in this genre is always top in that overall media…
Wow, Jagdeep. I’m just running across this now and I am speechless. First of all, congratulations for the recognition you so richly deserve and to do it amongst friends. The actual image is sensational. You could not have posed these two any better than what nature dished out to you for this shot. Such an emotional and evocative image that gives me the chills. The black and white is sensational. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this image. Incredible!!!
Perfect pose, and I think you did a fine job ensuring the subjects stood out against the background (the placement of the horizon line could have been a problem, but it really disappears back there).
