It is quite the collection of lichen, James. All of the little orange “dots” look great in the large view. I do feel like the yellow bits touching the right edge are a bit too saturated for the rest of the view.
Really cool find here James, and all that growth stands out against the light background. I enjoyed the detail closeup; I think all those little dots are spores. Your choice of portrait mode works well here; I probably would have place the hole a bit more off-center.
Oh the colors are so unusual here. I good amount of detail while still letting us view a large area of the formation. There may be more than one species of lichen here, but I’m by no means an expert. Nice light and detail and I agree that a vertical orientation works well. The center dark area is reminiscent of a knot hole or woodpecker nest cavity. A nice find photographed well.
