The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This is not a serious post at all – I’m just punchy from too much spring housecleaning on the image drives and thought I’d take a break to toss this one out. I’m just having fun trying to figure out how he managed the takeoff roll with this thing.
Specific Feedback
Goofy smiles welcome!
Technical Details

Shadows brought up in LR, NR in PS and slight crop from left and top.

Lovely translucence in the wings, Diane. I have seen them break the branches off, so possibly it was just a dive from the tree as take-off. A neat image either way.
Hi Diane, nice high key look with the dark branch providing contrast. I always enjoy seeing behavioral shots like this. The spread wings make for an intriguing image as well. TFS.
Wow, this is great, Diane! The texture on the feathers and its body is wonderful. Very cool!
Whether it’s serious or not, I like it. And I’m glad my wife doesn’t make me build nests.

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank, @Allen_Sparks, @Bonnie_Lampley and @Don_Peters! This guy’s muddy belly would have landed him in the trash bin if it weren’t for the size of the branch. At this rookery they land in nearby trees and break off branches but this one looks too big to break off and escape with intact. I wonder if he picked it up off the ground somewhere. I’ve seen Osprey doing an aerial grab – diving at a dead tree and breaking off a limb without missing a wingbeat. And I have a shot somewhere of one flying with a stick in each foot.
I find the composition to be very pleasing. Nice texture in the plumage.
Hi Diane
This photograph shows that a white background can add to the composition of a photograph. Everything in this photograph bring the viewer eyes to the Egret.

Thanks, @David_Schoen and @Peter_Morrissey! Hope I can spend more time with these guys next year, without obsessive eclipse planning competing.
