After the Apocalypse Version II

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

As noted in my first posting of an image of this house being engulfed by vegetation, I wasn’t really satisfied with the angle I had for showing off the decay. I knew I was going to be passing the place this past Sunday and it was a nice gloomy, showery day, so I took the camera along and used a different pull-off. This ended up being taken from the road just before getting to the driveway.

Specific Feedback

Did I succeed in creating an aura of decay in this image?

Technical Details

Sony A7Riv, FE 70-200 @ 171 mm, hand held, f/4, 1/500, iso 1000. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 6678x4625. Quite a bit of processing to try to bring out the decay of the building.

P.S. The PS remove tool did a great job on four electric/phone lines crossing the image.

Definitely a much better depiction of the apocalypse with this one Dennis. It shows the peeling paint, the mosses taking over the roof and the berries climbing up the walls. I like the extra touch of the moss on top of the chimneys like they are invading the inside too.

Interesting find, but for me the house doesn’t have much interest. The windows in particular lack character (vinyl??). It is possible go get a wider angle view so the house isn’t so prominent? You might go for a toned B/W with a fairly strong vignette to add some mystery.
