The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

A couple of days ago I noticed the juxtaposition of these two leaves and found time this morning to play. Moved the smallish pot onto a chair with a black board behind it and another one behind the bottom half of the leaves. Mix of window light, light over the dining table and a low level light. B/W was the way to go, not just with the mixed light but because these leaves are very dusky dark gray with only a hint of green.

Diane: A great concept executed to perfection. Simple subject producing a striking result. Most excellent. >=))>

Terrific shot, Diane. I have no suggestions.

Fantastic. Mesmerizing in its stark simplicity and boldness. Great timing with how fresh the leaves look even in monochrome, which was the way to go. Wow.

Thanks, @Don_Peters, @Bill_Fach and @Kris_Smith! This one came out better than I expected. It’s probably going to make my all-time favorites collection. (Already there, on probation for a while …)

This is gorgeous, Diane. Those heavy veins in the leaves just cry out for a b&w presentation and the black background put the finishing touches on this.

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank! And many thanks for the EP, @Kris_Smith and @Bill_Fach! What a delightful surprise! This entire little plant is stark simplicity-- there is one (!) other leaf and a pudgy falling-over stem with scraggly dried-up fragments whose provenance I can’t picture. That let me isolate these two leaves with a couple of black boards. Hope it grows up grand and poses for me again – but I once killed a plastic fern.

Congrats on well deserved EP. Excellent black and white transformation. The detail just pops.

Just saw this image. Stellar !!! The lines and contrast. perfect in B&W. The Lines and Texture really shine in this image…

What is Three Focus Stacked. You may have told me before BUT I probably still did not understand. Trying to learn… Im going to try to learn IR Photography using an IR filter. Any info would be great.

Thanks, @Allen_Brooks and @Gill_Vanderlip! Gill, in focus stacking, several frames are shot moving the focus from front toward the back in small steps, and then combined with Zerene Stacker, Helicon Focus, or in simple cases without significant overlap, PS will work. I generally do a number of frames but in this case, with the subject fairly flat and mostly in the focus plane, three was enough. (Smaller apertures have more inherent DOF and need fewer frames.

Really nice! Is the slightly lighter color behind them from light on your background or from an added vignette? Either way, it is brilliantly done. Love it!

Thanks, @Paul_Holdorf! That’s from the vignette. I thought it was a nice subtle touch.
