Description

Noted these backlit Bird of Paradise leaves on routine garden patrol the other day. This plant was devastated by a freeze this past winter but has recovered nicely. One bad effect of the freezes we have had the past few winters is that the leaves are killed off so the plant uses almost all its energy rebuilding the leaves and doesn’t flower. If we can avoid a freeze this winter I’ll be expecting some flowers next season. >=))>

Specific Feedback

I really wanted to stack these but the wind was blowing fairly briskly and the leaves caught it like a sail. BG too busy?

Bill, these leaves have a fine glow from the backlighting. That lighting also shows off their details very well. Personally, I like the context of having some detail in the background rather than the drama of pushing it to fully black.

Hi Bill,

The leaf texture is perfectly backlit. I might drop the brightness of the BG slightly as some of the lighter areas pull my eyes from the subject. Beautiful comp…Jim
