Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

this is an image I posted several years ago but have reworked it. please bear with me as I am really confused about this whole process since I haven’t done any posting for several years. in fact, I didn’t even open my mainframe computer from last several years. So I haven’t really got any light room work or Photoshop work. I was really surprised by all the changes that have been added to this program.

I hope it isn’t too saturated. And I hope I got enough of the artifact in the tree perch to make it look somewhat decent. You can always compare with the first image I posted.

The learning curve is pretty steep for me but I will hang in there.

Hi David. It’s hard to compare this with the original post, but it’s looking the same to my eyes.

The best way to do a repost is to go to the bottom of your original post, but above all the comments and enter the Edit mode by clicking on the pencil icon just below the critique template:

Once you’re in the edit mode, put your cursor in the top of the edit screen above the long ugly text string that represents your original image and then click on the upload button in the toolbar at the top and you can upload your new version. I usually add text above the new version to identify it as a repost and above the old version to say “original” so people can differentiate them.

It’s a little complicated, but you’ll get the hang of it soon.

A beautiful little bird on a beautiful perch. Wonderful feather detail and complimentry background too.

I’m not familiar with the bird, so can’t comment on the colour, but the image doesn’t look over-saturated to me.

David – welcome back!!! What a gorgeous catch – stunning detail without looking over-sharpened, and the colors and lighting are perfect! (You could even go for a bit more red saturation if you wish, but not necessary.) The BG is perfect! There are some sharp (hard) selection edges around the right end of the perch that could probably be dealt with most easily using the Blur tool. Or a crop from the right could work for my taste, and that would give even more prominence to the gorgeous lichen.

And now I found the earlier post from the 9th – good job cleaning up the selection edges on the left.

Q Diane, very nice images that you have of the Osprey.
