The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

After emerging from a small pool of water, young golden dart frogs are marked with more dark areas on their skin than the coloration found on adults. This frog was less than a centimeter in length, but very photogenic. I liked the color pattern that these juveniles have over the adult coloration.

Specific Feedback

The RAW file was very dark and the original BG was near black and featureless. I bumped up the exposure by a full stop and brightened the shadows which revealed a very desirable BG. How do you like the near square crop and overall comp? How do you feel about the BG?

Technical Details

Z9 105mm f2.8 Micro (1/100 sec at f16, ISO 500, flash with big diffuser at 1/4 power) DeNoise, Levels, brightened shadows to pull features out of BG, Crop for comp.

I think the comp and background work very nicely, Jim. The only way I could think of to improve this image would be to do a stack on the foreground. though I’m not sure how stacking software would react to the absence of the frog. I suspect it could be merged in.

Nice composition and your processing brought great complimentary colors in the BG. The color on the frog is just wild that they are that intense.

Excellent pose of this cute little guy, Jim, and captured very well. That is quite a small frog!
