The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I like playing around with the patterns in spider webs. Pointing the macro lens in the sun’s direction and experimenting with the exposure, angle and vibration of the web produces some unusual effects. They change constantly, and I need many shots before I get one that I like. Now is the best time for web-fun. This section suggested a station hub in inner space to me.
Specific Feedback
What do you think about the crop? I could add a bit on 3 sides, but not much to the bottom.
Technical Details
D500 + 105mm macro 1/1250 f4.2 ISO 1600
Run through LR and PS with lots of small adjustments, including White Balance and even a bit of Saturation, till I was happy with the result.

Mike, this is VERY cool! Mesemerizing shapes, patterns , and colours.
If you don’t have more room on the bottom to balance a looser crop, (and don’t want a little help from Gen fill in PS to create some) this present crop is fine.
Great, innovative work!
Kike, This is a fascinating image and I find myself visually anchored on the image as my brain keeps asking itself-what the ____ is this. The source of the color has me scratching my head . Is it refraction or background color and is the movement slightly blurred at your shutter speed ? Your technique is excellent - well done !!
Thanks @SandyR-B and @Jmill59. James, the colors are caused by refraction. There is one tiny spider in particular here which spins threads that catch the light and appear the most multi-colored in this way. Its web is horizontal, which helps too. But many other species’ webs can also be good. A slight wind is helpful, failing which I can blow on the web; this creates a vibration/ blur which then reveals the colors better. Best to do in the early morning when the sun has just appeared.
Sandy, I think I’ll keep the crop as is, because there is not so much going on at the bottom.
I love the title Mike. It makes me think of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I love the refracted lights in the spider web, and the vibrations are great.
Great image for this challenge Mike! Besides the great colors and sense of, What the heck am I looking at (that keeps me there looooooking), the compositional choice of placement in the frame is perfect. I wouldn’t crop a thing. I also appreciate that the UR corner is almost pitch black, giving the space station the room it needs.
Mike: Wow what an image. It’s hard to see how you might improve it. I especially like images where I am left to wonder what I’m looking at…something in space?
Thanks @Ed_Williams@Mark_Seaver@Connie_McClaran and @delton . These are very small webs, made from a spider silk which refracts the light very clearly . This web section was a couple of cm. wide.
