Avocet Amore w/Repost

Reprocessed from Raw:

Original Post:

American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana), Summer Lake Wildlife Area, Summer Lake, Oregon, USA. April 24, 2010.

Summer Lake isn’t much of a lake anymore…the last time I was there a few years ago, there were no migrating birds stopping by.

Anyway, in 2010 it was hopping with Avocets and Stilts.

Is this a composite: No
Canon 7D, 300mm 2/8 + 2x Extender. 1/640sec @ f/8, ISO 320.

You caught some wonderful interaction, David. I also like the composition. I do think you could bring the whites down just a bit as the breasts are so bright they pull my eye away from the crossed bills.

What @Dennis_Plank said! (Being late saves me a lot of typing.) Have you tried the TK linear profiles – they are excellent at taming highlights.

Thank you @Dennis_Plank and @Diane_Miller. I realized I needed to reprocess this from the original Raw in order to take advantage of the latest technology. Hopefully this is better. White balance and Crop are also redone…

The repost is much better, David. An excellent image.

Hi David
I am glad you keep the 2010 photograph of these two Avocets. The repost looks really nice.
