I like the light in the background and the simplicity of this scene.
For me and this is a comment on style I’d prefer the white balance to be warmer. For me the blues look more like blue hour instead of day light hours. I think the blue - yellow colour contrast but I would shift the balance more towards warm.
Personal choice obviously but below is a rough of the direction I would take it.
Doug, this is a lovely beach scene. The clean mass of sand at the bottom is a treat that speaks to your finding a fairly isolated location. The warmth of the sunny parts in the sky contrasts well with the coolness of the sand and blue sky. The cool tone adds well to the sense of being there at the edge of the day.
