Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

Pantanal, Brazil
This beautiful, hyperactive little 6 inch bird with the very oversized feet hops around in the reeds and marsh plants scavenging for insects, small fish, and crustaceans.
I liked the little stray feather and prey here.

Specific Feedback

(2) OOF reeds removed, and the right reed cut off a little

This is a wonderful post Sandy. This bird is so interesting. I love the chocolate colors, the little stripes along the side and the grassy perch, and you have a really nice smooth BG. The feather and food are nice touches too. It looks like some kind of wren to me.

@Ed_Williams
I think you’re right, although it seems to have been placed in several different families through the years.
Interesting , about that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-capped_donacobius

Whether it’s a wren or not it looks like it’s filling that ecological slot, though I must admit that it’s more beautiful than our marsh wrens. Excellent image, Sandy.

Very nice capture, technically good with a cuteness factor and lovely setting!

I really love the BG in this one. the colors all match with the bird, and the green with the reed he’s on. His markings are so clear. In a close look, it appears to be a snail he’s eating. Not sure. Either way a great shot. Thanks.

I really like this. Great color and details in the bird. The symmetry of the grass frames the bird and the background is great. A fine composition I could see printed and hung on a wall.

Congrats on EP Sandy, that is one cool bird.

Thanks to all for the kind comments. I just love this little fellow, and he will soon be on the wall (running out of room fast, between me and my husband’s astounding driftwood sculptures)
