These are always welcome when they show up in our backyard. I love their look AND their call. D500, Nikon 200-500 lens, hand held, 1/2500th, f 7.1, 500mm, ISO 6400, AI Clear, cropped to 3450 x 2755.

Very nice look at the grosbeak. Perhaps darken the yellow background on the left, it tends to draw my eye.

Nice pose and excellent detail in both the bird and perch, Dave. You might think about toning down that gaudy background-I’m sure it’s natural, but it’s a bit distracting to my eye.

An excellent capture of this bright, colorful bird, Dave! Nice job with the exposure, classic composition and nice detail. The bright background works well in this scene because the bird is so bright. The overall effect is quite striking!
