Black&White mountain ( + rework)

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I like the visual style of Takuma Nakahira, Daido Moriama and Yasuhiro Ogawa (all street photographers). As I´m shooting very rarely in the street, I tried to translate it a bit to landscape, i.e. the dark version. Then I thought, why not to try the opposite direction as well.

Specific Feedback

This versions are maybe a bit controversial, but sometimes I like to try strange things, just to see how it would look. I like both versions, but unfortunately for me, the white version a bit more.
What is your opinion here? I would be really courious what you think

Technical Details

43mm, F10, 1/60s, ISO160

I like where you were heading with the darker image. The lighter one removes all the detail in the sky and the mountains in the background and washes out a lot of detail to me. The darker image though seems a bit too dark and I would try to recover some detail from the darkest parts of the mountain, while trying to maintain that moody look, maybe concentrating on the large tree which is a main focal point in the image.

Thank you, Scott!! :folded_hands:
I think you are right, I dodged the tree and mountain a bit up, it went quite dark initially. There is a lot ahead of me to learn and find out :slightly_smiling_face:
For the white version, I assume, I like it because for me it looks a bit like a pencil drawing.

I like the darker new edit. A really nice B&W simple image with great Tone. You can really feel the sky…
