Nice capture John. I like that you have place this guy in his environment, but am curious if cropping it just a bit (some from the bottom and the left) would help to focus more on the elk?? We used to live in Colorado and had elk all around, we don’t now and I do miss these magnificent animals. Thanks for positing it.

This composition and subject placement in the frame works for me. Nice environmental image.

Very nice capture. I like the way you framed it and would not crop any more. The environment matters here.
