Self Critique
The foreground is a bit too blurry for my tastes. I do like the clean background.
Creative direction
I was looking for a background that added to the owl and did not distract
Specific Feedback
I like the image overall. I want some thoughts on clearing up the foreground. I don’t want to crop any tighter.

Description
This was my first attempt at burrowing owls. I do like the images with the sand backgrounds but I wanted something a bit different so with a bit of waiting and getting low I grabbed a few frames with the sky as my backdrop.

Andrew: this is a wonderful photo of theburrowing owl. There’s excellent detail in the feathers and overall as well, and there are no blown whites. I also like the clean background. My only suggestion would be to burn the very light colored soil that the bird is perched on. Congrats!
These stoic-appearing little owls are such fun to watch. When in Florida, we always spend a couple days in Cape Coral, where there are many of them.
Nice pose from this one, and I don’t mind the light sand or OOF areas along the bottom at all.
Excellent detail and color, Andrew. I tend to agree that the out of focus foreground gets to be a bit too much in the lower right. Unfortunately, it was probably too close to the owl to do much about it. I still want to have good session with one or more of these.
Hi Andrew, love the eyes on these owls and this shows them well. I also like the BG and the sand/foreground doesn’t bother - after all they are burrowing owls on the ground. The strong capture of the owl and nice subject placement is what I take to in the image.
This is a great image of this owl. I downloaded and tried to do something with cloning the FG OOFs, with absolutely no success. It really doesn’t detract much from the overall appearance in the first place though.
