This is really cool, Michael. a very nice composition with amazing depth of field. The relatively long focal length creates a foreshortening effect that’s a bit disconcerting at first but grows on me. The lighting looks really interesting-was this heavily back lit?
Michael, I agree that the motion blur of the bee works nicely in this situation. You were fortunate to get the group in one frame. If you use Photoshop CC you could easily add some canvas with a content aware crop if you want. I have that same lens but don’t seem to use it much. I’ll be interested to see more of your work.
It was a partly cloudy day with dappled light. The light was coming in from the right of the butterfly/bee and that is why the background looks the way it does. The background was some hedges and the right part was being shaded while the left was getting more light. Thanks for looking and commenting.
I was also found the right had side a little close to the edge of the frame. Good idea about the canvas and content aware fill, I will try that. Thanks for looking and commenting.
