I think you succeeded, Don. I like the way the processing brought out some reds in the image and the lighting seems to pull the eye toward the mass of thorns at the center.
I never would have picked this image as a Barrel cactus. The image is quite spectacular! Love the shapes and the movement. The colour is amazing and I wonder if the colour had have been more natural would I have picked the image as a cactus? I don’t think so. Well done.
This is a home run. Fascinating reinterpretation of a barrel cactus. If I ever get tired of bugs down here in southern Arizona, you’ve inspired me to head for thorny things.
