Caddis Fly

Took a trip to the forest Monday last week - one of the first really nice warm days of the year. The cold came back a few days later, but at least I managed to get out there. Found mostly spiders, but also this little fellow perched on a blueberry leaf. Managed to take one sharp shot before it flew away. I’m fairly certain it’s a caddis fly, but as to species I have no clue. Not the best photo to ID from either since the wings etc. are not in focus, but I really dig the compound eye on this one.

Is this a composite: No
Canon EOS RP, Laowa 100 2x macro, diffused flash @ f/11, 1/160s and ISO 400. Cleaned up the micro debris on the leaf and bug, minor adjustments of color and contrast.

Ingemar, I am not sure what this is either. It looks a lot like one of the insects that we have here in the US, in North Carolina. I wasn’t able to enlarge it to view it closer (not sure why). I like the angle you captured it, giving a nice view of the face and the body. The background is out of focus enough that it doesn’t feel distracting, and feels like it is more leaves like the one he is standing on. Very nice. Hopefully someone can confirm the ID of this little guy.
