Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain NP at sunrise. I loved how the mist was rising behind the trees and the meadows. This is such a classic rural scene. The park service was nice enough to leave a nice pile of hay or two to enhance the rural feel of the area.

Specific Feedback

Lighting, crop, colors, mist? Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

Technical Details

Canon R5, f4, 1/320s, iso 250, 24-105 lens at 105 mm.

Ed,

I feel like there is too much FG with nothing in it of interest. Actually it looks like the immediate FG is slightly out of focus, perhaps crop it out? Second, there is s subtle side lighting which appears to be some direct sunlight coming in from the left side. It would be nice if you could accentuate that light, perhaps either with a contrast adjustment or maybe a vibrance/saturation adjustment. Third, I love rising mist and fog as well and have had a hard time capturing it. It is elusive to the camera, at least for me. In this case, the trees also block most of it, so figuring out how to accentuate the fog is a mystery. The image has potential but needs more work.

The image has a lot going for it – I like the colour palette and the softness that the fog brings and the line of trees is nice too. I do think though, as Youssef already mentioned that you probably could crop off some of the foreground.

Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions on this one @Youssef_Ismail and @Tom_Nevesely. I gave it a shot at a little rework. I think this version works a little better.
