The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I almost hate to post this after the stunning fog/mist images that my brother and John Williams have posted recently, but here goes. This was taken last Friday on a quick trip to Blackwater Falls SP, WV during a rain event. We only live four hours away so it’s not a big deal to make the trip.
We have learned over the years that we can usually catch some nice atmospherics; during a rain event; in the canyon along the Blackwater River. I captured several different images of his particular location as the fog moved around the scene. This image was the one I liked best.
Specific Feedback
I am fairly happy with the image, but if you notice something please do not hesitate to leave C&C.

Ed, As I look at your image in full size from my very flat country. There is so much to see. What most amazed me where those rocks coming out of those trees. The different greens. And of course the composition. You say it’s only a four hour trip.
Such a trip for me means that I should be in another country. Germany or Belgium.
A long journey
Really like this, Ed. Should have more comments. The rock outcropping makes for a strong focal point and the rising mist adds some great atmospherics. I could also see a 3x4 crop. Not better, just different.
Gorgeous!! I love mist, and combined with hillsides, it’s magic! No way I could make it any better! @Michael_Lowe’s cop also works, but as he said, just as an alternative.
I like this. It has a really great atmosphere and mood and I like the layering. One thing I would experiment with would be to very slightly dodge the rocky outcrop/cliff to bring it out a tiny bit. I’m not sure if it would be better that way or not but that is something I would personally play with.
@Ben_van_der_Sande : I am fortunate that I have several locations that I like to photograph that are about four hours away. Would you need a passport to enter Germany or Belgium? @Michael_Lowe : Thanks Mike; I like the crop. @John_Williams : I’ll second that. My favorite time for some photography. @Tom_Nevesely : Thanks for the suggestion Tom. Something like this?
