My local camera shop, called me with an offer on a new Canon 200-800mm. I am think about trading in my Canon 100-500mm. Any thoughts!!!

I’m not familiar with the 200-800, Peter, but it seems to me that the 100-500 is more versatile. It’s 2/3 the weight and I know from Diane’s posts that you can pair it with a 2x and still get great results if you really need the reach. I must admit though that the price point is pretty reasonable.
From what I’ve read, the 100-500 has better glass. It also has a lower f-stop. As Dennis pointed out, it weighs less. Not sure of the quality with a tele-converter, but the 1.4 on the 100-500 gives you 700 mm, so only a bit more reach with the 800. The 100-500 is the best lens I’ve ever owned and it cost a lot. What’s the trade in value?
Rant: If Canon had come out with the 200-800 first, it probably would have been one of their best sellers in history. But, they came out with the 100-500 and we all spent a lot of money. Now they’re trying to entice us to also buy the 200-800 (at, as Dennis said a very reasonable price). I’m pretty tired of this manipulation and lack of loyalty to their customers. I’m also not going to be buying the R5 Mark II. The only improvement for me would be the pre-capture, something they could have added to the original R5 as a firmware upgrade. Again, showing a lack of loyalty to those of us who support them.
