Image Description

Early November snow in the mountains as the last remnants of fall color occur at a lower elevation. This image was captured as I was driving to different location to photograph. The overcast skies, the clouds, and the light mist on the lake were all elements that caught my attention. I tried to capture the moodiness and impart a sense of how cold it was on this day.

Interesting and different! For me it evokes a sort of mysterious solitude spread over a sleeping giant. I love the diagonal between the last bit of fall color and the first bit of snow. The layering of shadow on the mountain and the breaking clouds give the feeling of a coming awakening. Well seen and presented!

My first impression is of beautiful lights. For me the photo is all about the contrasts. The left side is a dark shade full of colours, the right side is a bright alternation of delicate shades and lights almost without colors. This creates a very nice contrast not only of lights but also of colors. I love this emotional image Steven.

I was taken by the stark snow line as that phenomenon of snow level has always fascinated me. The other element that grabbed my attention was the small cloud on the right near the water line. That small cloud evokes a sense of melancholy that I think epitomizes autumn.

@Diane_Miller @Giuseppe_Guadagno @Youssef_Ismail , Thank you so much for your comments.

Initial thought: A perfect title. Fall into winter. Elements: The last color of autumn; the fog on the water and the new snow. Mood: I like winter with all its beauty, so I feel excitement for all the changes and opportunities it is going to bring.

This certainly does capture that mood of transition to winter. I feel the chill of a late fall afternoon. My eye is drawn to the snow line and also to the dark bulk of the mountain on the left.

Hi Steven,
Your processing is perfect and certainly does capture the feeling of coldness. I find the soft subdued light on the mountain to be a great counterpoint to the forested areas in shadow along the shoreline of the lake. The bit of autumn color helps illustrate the changing of the seasons beautifully. Very nicely done.
