Image Description

On the first evening of our most recent trip to Samburu, after sunset we came upon a cheetah mother with her cubs, clearly visible above the tall grass as they searched for prey. When it became too dark, we had to leave them behind, much to our regret. But at the time, we didn’t yet know that we would see them again every day.

My mind immediately went to putting the title with the image. At first glance the image didn’t seem like it could have been taken at night. I began thinking maybe a long exposure would make sense since the grasses seemed blurred. I had lots more thoughts about how the nice composition and the possibility that this is a young cheetah learning to hunt but those go beyond the request.

It’s a really nice shot Ingrid. You call it Cheetah Night, so I am also thinking that it may well have been taken at dusk with a long exposure.
But the overall effect of movement in the grass is super, quite etherial. Also the muted tones suit the simple colour pallet. It has a focus point on the near animal which works very well with the composition

Thank you for your comments and appreciation!
It is true that it was after sunset, so dusk rather than night. I should probably rename the photo (in fact, I just did :upside_down_face:
Grt, Ingrid.
