When things don’t go bump in the night because big cats are silent hunters. The darkness of the scene with the patterned coat of the leopard works well for this shot. The eyes are nice and sharp and like the overall feel to the image. Life goes on at night…Jim

It is very beautifully done and framed in a masterly manner !
I really like how all the elements around leopard are enhancing the impact.

PS. You must share the techs, especially for an image like this !

Very evocative image! The environment is wonderful. What was the source of light, or did you selectively lighten?

Thanks, Sandy! Sorry, I forgot to say we shone a subtle spotlight on the leopard from the car. In South Luangwa the guides use lights that don’t disturb the predators. They can’t be used when the predators are hunting because otherwise of course the prey would be able to see them. Then the lights get switched off and we sit there in the pitch dark, in an open vehicle, listening to the lions and leopards often moving right beside us… it’s absolutely thrilling :star_struck:

Nice shot. Love the subtle light. Perfectly executed! Looking forward to my trip there in September. :blush:

@Ingrid_Vekemans
Ingrid, I remember the first time I heard a lion roar in the dark of night, very near. I think my heart missed a few beats and my eyes teared up. I’ll never ever forget. Africa is in my soul.
