I photographed this Loon coming down stream on the Four Mile River, in East Lyme, CT, on a very cloudy morning and thought it would look best as a black and white.

Is this a composite: No
Canon 7D Mark ll, Sigma 150-600mm, f6.3, 546mm, 1/640, -3.EV, ISO 2000. The shot is cropped by 50% and covered in a black and white using Nik Collection, Silver Efex Pro3.

One of my favorite birds, Peter. This is really nice and the B&W treatment is perfect. Well done.

B/W works very well. Like the focus especially.

Peter, the bird and it’s reflection are wonderfully clear and sharp. The long stretch of ripple behind it adds a good sense of motion that contrasts well with the stillness of the foreground water.
