Colonizing Swallows

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

There’s an active colony of cliff swallows I’ve been observing, and practicing my Z9’s “pre-capture” ability. This is a good situation for it. They go from having their heads sticking out of their nest to flown off in a hot second. Pre-capturing makes shots like this possible.

A cool image, Dave. That’s very tough light to deal with when it’s partially lit like that and it’s looking rather harsh on the swallows. Is this by chance fully lit at either sunset or sunrise? I do really like the action you caught with three different degrees of departure.

It was mid-morning full sun lighting.
