Cormorant Takeoff

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was at our local lake and managed to get fairly close to this cormorant on a bout and quietly wished that it would takeoff (not just swim off) at a right angle to me and, after a bit, I did exactly as I’d hoped. I got it in its water spanking, wingtips touching takeoff.

Nice catch Dave. Love the big splash at take off and all the water droplets in air. Catching the reflection is a plus too. I like this composition as is but I could see trying a version with a slight crop from the top. Nice action capture.

Nice one Dave! I have only just started to try and shoot faster moving birds I never realized just how hard it is! I agree with Allen just a small crop off the top . :+1:

On looking at it I think taking some off of the top is a good idea. Thanks.
