Crashing Fog

Image(s)

Image Description

To me the Smoky Mountains are the very definition of Fog and Mist. I like this image because the right center of the river of fog reminds me of a wave crashing on a beach and the early morning sunlight patches.

Robert: A marvelous scene indeed and an aptly titled shot. I really like the hint of a spectral display in the fog and the implied movement. My only suggestion would be to crop from the top 20-30% to give the wave more prominence in the frame but this does work for me as is. Nicely done. >=))>

I too like the title! That swell right of center really does look like a wave crashing in.

I think @Bill_Fach’s suggestion to play with crops that emphasize the fog is a good one. There’s also a loss of detail in that darker slope across the center that would be good to work on.

Thank you, Bill. I gave the suggested crop a go, but by doing that I loose the effect of the " flowing river of fog" that was a part of the scene that attracted me to capture it in the first place. Robert Engle

Thank you, John.

I really like this picture. It tells a story. If you look toward the center, you can see the light and picturesque details in the trees. Looking up, you can sense the vastness.

Thank you, Kathrin. This was pretty much the story I wanted this image to convey. Robert Engle
