Description: I really enjoy capturing images of the Rail Road Steam Engines. This one was taken along the Durango & Silverton Rail Road during their Winter Photo Train.

Pertinent technical details or techniques: Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Lens: EF28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM @ 28.0 mm. f/9.0. Shutter Speed: 1/1600 sec. ISO: 500. Exposure Compensation: -1.33. Edited with Photoshop, Nik Viveza 2 and Nik Color Efex Pro 4.

Very nice shot, Robert. I like taking photos of trains too, but I don’t get a chance to see a steam engine. I like the BG and the smoke from the stack really adds to this image. It’s great that you caught it going across a neat bridge too. Love that the coach cars are orange. Great contrast. The only suggestion I have is that it looks a tad bit over sharpened when I enlarge it.

Hi Robert, love steam engines and the smoke from this one is so cool. Agree with @Donna_Callais about the sharpness.
