This is a truly unique and interesting image Jim. One can only wonder what’s going on with that spiral pattern inside the opening in the wall. The two separate patterns work well together here. You’ve achieved a great sense of mystery, which is exactly what a good abstract image should do.
OH MY! This is a mind bender! So, so, very unique. Kudos for this one Jim!
I can’t even begin to think how this was created (and I don’t really want to know…) but the result here is fantastic and fascinating. I see the swirled center as the rings of a tree, and so that sent me on the path of petrified wood - rather than rock. So many ways this could be interpreted - ie. A portal to a time machine - think “Twighlight Zone.”
I love the rich colors with the browns, bronze, golds, copper… just wonderful.
The only thing that catches me is the frame. Now I’m a frame guy and I like framing my own images (most of them anyway. I think though it’s the color choice as it competes and actually pulls down all the wonderful colors I just mentioned. Not a big deal, and I expect what you’re doing is what I used to do years ago when matting/framing prints. I would go the the frame shop with my mounted print. Then spend an inordinant amount of time selecting 1. a frame color and 2. mat color - both inside/outside for double mounting. I had this notion that I would use the small, inside mat to match a color in the print i wanted to draw attention. Anyway… it became such a hassle picking colors, I finally just went with white mat, black frames. done.
This is creative for sure. Heck the rock wall alone had me. I’m with Lon on the framing. Funny how I did the same as him when I first started presenting my photos in public. Now its just White mat and Black frame. Simple yet elegant and clean.
@Lon_Overacker@Youssef_Ismail. I took this photo in June, 2024, and for some now forgotten reason when I processed it I added the frame. I just posted it without the frame. Looks better. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
