Dawn Paddle

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Our first trip to the Canadian Rockies had us camping at the Lake Louise campground. Sunrise was pretty early but I wanted to be at the lake shore for the show. These paddlers had beat me to it but when they moved into a spotlit area I was glad they did. What a magnificent place. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Reprocessed in LRC and PS. I boosted the vibrance but not the saturation. Colors ok? Crop the sky or leave it in?

Technical Details

Excellent scene, Bill. The diagonal light cast here works nicely on this amazing terrain. I do prefer the second one without the sky as it seems to put a bit more emphasis on the paddlers in the scene. Both work just fine and it’s just a personal taste there… :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

For me, I definitely prefer the first image with that little bit of the sky. Although the sky is just a mass of blue I still think it helps ground the image. That’s not to say the one without the sky is any worse. Like Paul said - it’s personal taste. Otherwise I think this is very nice.

Bill, The mass of diagonals in light and shade is very dynamic. I too prefer the one with the sky as it makes the paddlers feel even smaller and it shows off the snowfield (glacier??) well.
