This year, I discovered my love for small scenes. As my photography journey evolves, I’m drawn to creating images that reflect my creative vision and hold personal meaning, rather than simply capturing grand landscapes. This shift has boosted my confidence, helped me find inspiration anywhere, and encouraged me to experiment and enjoy the process without fear of judgment.
I’ve intentionally studied more photographs, reflected on why certain images resonate with me, and explored books related to photography to deepen my understanding.
What an intriguing group you’ve put together here and I can see why you chose each of them. Your love of trees is a nice thing to see and I share that love. Here’s to seeing more of you work in 2025.
I’m really enjoying all these images and your vision in creating them, except the first one. It’s just not working for me. First off, I have no idea what I’m looking at. It looks like a composite, but the two halves don’t go together. It seems like they’re in conflict with each other. The soft, earthy tones of the FG contrast too much with the harsher cold strong lines of the BG. Ice wall or glacier/ iceberg, mountainside?
Wow Drishti, these are really nice. What a great collection. I really like the 4th and 6th ones. I am fascinated by the first one. It is a head scratcher for me to try to figure out what I am looking at. Nice work.
@Michael_Lowe Glad you enjoyed the images. For the first one, what drew me to the composition was the fact that it makes one think - huh what is this. It’s a single frame image taken at Corinth Canal in Athens. This summer I discovered my love for water and the blue is water on a windy day. I played around with rotating the image and felt that with this composition something clicked. The water almost looks like a painted sky!!
Drishti, yes a fine collection. It took me a bit, but I finally reconized the first one as being rippled water at the top. The change of pace is quite amazing and does make the viewer wonder/think. That blue/gold abstract is also spectacular, love the rippled gold in the water. I’m going to guess that the colorful eroded ridges are Death Valley. It is an excellent view with all of the color changes, nicely abstracted by your tight framing.
@Youssef_Ismail Thank youu, the blue is Water. The photo is of a canal on a windy day. I rotated the image after capturing it as I found that made for the most interesting composition.
@Mark_Seaver Thank you for the kind words. Those are the two images I’m definitely most proud of. And yes, second photo is from my first trip from Death Valley!!
