Dogwood in the Rain + RP

And a revision of the cropped version with stems removed in both top corners.

Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

Another from a couple of weeks ago when we had a light rain – the last one until November. I usually do closeup views but in this case like the context of the wider frame, but am including a crop for comparison. (Actually, I like both!)

Diane, I just love dogwoods and even better with the raindrops! I think I like the crop better as the distraction of the branches/twigs in the upper right corner are minimized. It’s one of the challenges I have when photographing dogwoods also- the busy backgrounds of the dark branches. The brightness of the white flower certainly draws your eye in here, love it!

I like both as well, Diane. The dew on the petals and leaves is exquisite. While the out of focus twigs on either side tend to frame the flower in the looser composition, the one remaining that crosses the upper right in the closer image seems distracting to me.

Beautiful work.

Diane: @Dennis_Plank took the words out of my mouth. I do prefer the cropped version and the branch Dennis mentioned could go away. Marvelous subjects nicely captured and presented. >=))>

Thanks, @beth_young, @Dennis_Plank and @Bill_Fach. A revision of the cropped version is posted above. I do think it’s my favorite now! Always so nice to get other viewpoints!
