Love that green eye that is so well shown in this image. The light coming in the front highlighting the head and eye works for me. I think you might try toning down the brightness in the background in front of the bird.
This turned out quite well. I like the areas of brighter light on the Cormorant. The beak and eye really stand out well. Nice background.
The light on the face really makes this stand out. Nice detail where you would expect it. I’m glad you left the realistic shadows under the wing and behind the head.
A bit contrasty, Dan, but I love the strong graphics. I’d be tempted to clone over all that bright stuff above the water in the background.
