Dragonfly Trio

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

It is blazing hot here in Northern California. Best photographic opportunity available…dragonflies.
30 to 45 minutes outside before having to duck inside again. Put the camera in burst mode, found a good spot to sit by the lake and try to anticipate their actions. If you want to fill up the micro card on your camera, this is a good way to do it.

Specific Feedback

All feedback welcome.
(Can you spot the 2 spiders in the image?)

Wow, James, this is a really fun image! That’s so cool that you were able to capture the 2 flying dragonflies both facing you and almost mirroring each other! I can see the one spider right below that dragonfly, is the other one a little further up on the underside of the branch as well? I don’t really have anything to suggest, I just really like it!

Thanks Vanessa, and you got the 2 spider locations right! The 2nd one you only see the legs sticking out as the spider is on the back side.

Three for the price of one on a hot day, James. Looks like you were making the best of it and getting the shots and getting back in where it was cooler. I haven’t yet successfully captured a dragonfly in flight, and you got two at once, with another on the perch for a bonus. The water for the BG really works nice.

Thanks Shirley.
