Description
Another driftwood slice from my trip to the coast last weekend.
Specific Feedback
I was initially attracted to the smoothness and lovely contours of this piece and tried to accent those features in post processing. While I accented the cracks in the wood to help create the contours, I reduced the fine detail in the wood a bit and removed lots of sand and healed some imperfections in the surface to try to get that smooth feel (and yes, I know I missed some of those tiny sand grains). Does this make you want to run your hand over it?

Dennis: I got sidetracked and did not comment on your first driftwood shot but I can’t miss on this one. I much prefer the color palette here and all the curves, lines and textures. Really well seen, composed and captured. >=))>
Wow. Nicely done. My eyes get drawn into this and make lots of circuits on all the cracks and features without leaving the frame. I really like the color palette. In fact, if it were mine, I’d be tempted to increase the saturation a bit to emphasize the faint hint of blue in the lighter, more worn areas of the wood. A large print would make any waiting room less painful.
It’s a great meditation on a wood surface. I really like the interplay of color between the muted blues and the browns. The processing seems very appropriate–not overly soft and not overly sharpened. Yes, I do want to run my hand over it!
I missed commenting here but have to say how lovely I find this!! And I love that the surface fills the frame with no edges, making it even more abstract. And the circular area near the center is just the right anchor for the flowing lines. Congratulations on the EP – most deserved!!
