Drinkin Robin

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The weather has warmed enough that the Robins are hanging around and drinking from my water feature. By shooting in burst mode (from my blind), I managed to catch this male getting a drink and spilling a good bit of the water.

Technical Details

R5, 100-500 @ 500, 1/2000 s, f/10, iso 1600, tripod. Cropped to 4x5.

A nice setting and good look a the robin and good work at getting those water drops.

Nice action with excellent detail, Mark. Robins do love water. You should be able to get them bathing as well. Good choice of rocks for the pond. I was at a ranch in Texas once that had great birds and a nice blind, but it was hill country and all the rocks were limestone. You had about an hour morning and evening where it wasn’t glaring white. I’ve been conscious of my choice of rocks for water features ever since.

Very nice Mark. Love the water drops coming down from the beak. Lighting and exposure look good. A fine setting too.
