The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I took this image after a night that was cold enough to form hoar frost on the trees.
Specific Feedback
The eagle was perched in a very busy area. Is it too busy? I made a crop (not posted) where most of the right side of the image was removed, but didn’t think it was an improvement. I did remove one small, dark branch that poked into the open area in the middle of the frame, but decided not to do more, primarily because it became a question of where to stop.
Technical Details
R5 and 100-500 lens at 1/3200, f/8 and Auto ISO 1000 and +1 EV.

Hi Richard. I like the way the frosted branches frame the eagle, so the business of the background doesn’t bother me. It looks like you have a few areas of frost that are sunlit, but most is looking pretty gray as is the eagle’s head. I think you can use a curves layer to bring the grays closer to white without destroying the bright areas and if you do get a few small areas blown out, I don’t think it matters when the subject is frost. It’s always a tradeoff when you’re trying to photograph frost to get the shaded areas still looking white without blowing out the highlights-sometimes you just have to accept a few.
Nice framing and the new crop works well. The frost on the branches is a bonus. Good sharpness and I like how the light picked out the light edging on the feathers.
Richard, anytime you can point the camera towards an eagle, it’s a good day in my opinion, but you hit the bonus with the frost. I like your repost a lot. I was able to shoot some eagle shots last month, but haven’t had time to edit and post them. Hopefully soon.
