Early Evening Tetons View

Nikon D750 Nikon 70-200. ISO 100, F16 1/160

Fall view of the Grand Tetons. Grabbed this last fall. The puffy white clouds are a plus to me. I tried to leave enough foreground so the viewer can tell it’s fall. Used Dehaze on the mountain only. Pulled the blues back and upped the white a bit. Snow looks good to me.

Thoughts or input on processing appreciated. Have more from the Tetons from this day but wanted some input before I start processing more including some nice panoramics.

Andrew,

A “Grand” view for sure, Nice capture and the hint of autumn is just barely enough - as you’ve included just enough of the foreground. I’m wondering if there’s even a little more below? You did well with the exposure given the time of day. The clouds are definitely a plus here - although I wish there were more! Colors and processing look natural. While not a requirement for a great photograph, I do think this one is lacking a little of the wow factor. I guess that becomes more important when shooting classic locations like the Tetons…

Lon

Andrew, I agree with Lon, while the mountain is nice, the harsh light from a mid-day shot really limits the “wow” factor in a color image. However, this is the kind of light that may translate well to B&W. you may want to consider a B&W conversion where you increase the luminosity of the yellow, brown areas, and significantly darken the blue/cyan in the sky. The harsh contrasty light here may look better in B&W.

I do not do a lot of black and white processing. Do you feel this presents better than the color version ?
