Eastern Meadowlark

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Saw this meadowlark at the local state park this morning.

Specific Feedback

Wondering about the crop. I kept in the upright leaf on the left and full leaves on the right. This caused the bird to be somewhat centered.

Technical Details

My favorite pose! Crop looks great to me - the birdy is just enough off-center to add interest. The leaves are perfect, adding colour and echoing the vertical stance of the bird.
Excellent!

The head is nicely off center and that’s what really counts in this image, Allen. Excellent detail and I like the perch and the way it’s grasping that cluster of leaves with its right foot.

A beautiful image Allen! It’s so colour coordinated.

The perch is lovely, and the bird holding on to it, is the icing on the cake. I like how the leaves have nestled the bird in between. The over-the-shoulder backward pose is a favourite of mine. Lovely soft background. Absolutely nothing not to like.

I like the composition, Allen. The bird doesn’t feel centered to me as there is more space on the right than the left. Good pose and detail, a pleasing perch, and a background that nicely complements the bird and plant.

HI Allen
The head turn really makes the photograph, The framing, feather detail and eye contact are great.
