The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
A classic Great Egret pose just a few tens of minutes before it was too dark to take any picture, while waiting for the Cranes - which that night did not come. I liked the suspended atmosphere and the evening reflections in the water…

I really like the setting, Antonello. Good pose and eye level view of the Egret. Nicely composed with the egret well placed in the frame. I also like the mood created by the end of the day light. Interesting reflection. If you’re into that sort of thing, I’d be tempted to remove the building (though, on further viewing, it does create something of a sense of mystery) and maybe the bright debris along the left border.
I’m really enjoying the lighting here. Total qualities in the image are quite interesting. Between the reflection, the bird, and the foreground, there’s an interesting interaction of colors and reflections. Well done. Exposure of the plumage is well seen.
I love the reflected colors and the pose of the Egret, Antonello. You ,might look at a tighter crop for this one as the near foreground is pretty messy and a bit out of focus. Cropping up to the clearer area and taking what’s needed off the left and right might be interesting and would simplify the image.
A very interesting image with lovely light! I had the same thought as @Dennis_Plank about the near FG. A crop or a graduated burn would work well, I think.
Nice low light image Antonello. I like the bird’s pose and the water drop on the beak. Agree with a crop from the bottom. I think cropping out just where the foreground begins to blur heavily will keep the mood and put more focus on the bird. I realize you will lose the reflection but could be a good alternative to try.
Beautiful image! The light on the egret is exquisite and the patterns in the water are very nice. My only critique would be the “cloudy” area in the water at the bottom is fairly distracting and I would crop out the bottom 25% or so. Great capture!.
A wonderful image of a beautiful bird. The late light has given a peaceful feel to the image.
Some very good suggestion above. Would you consider removing what appears to be a fence line in the LHS background? I feel the image would benefit from a slight CCW rotation?
thanks for the many insightful and useful comments! I totally agree that the lower part was distracting, I tried to keep the Egret reflection but there was indeed too much disturbance. So following suggestions I re-posted the image (see above), cropping the lower part, transforming it to a 3:2 aspect, slightly increasing the overall luminosity and darkened the background at the top of the image… This took care also of the various noisy structures on the LHS - by the way, I think there was no building or fence visible, rather other water bodies in the background with trees planted at regular spacings… In any case, the pattern was distracting.
