This image was captured at the start of our recent Costa Rica tour as we made our way up to La Fortuna. This bird arrived on a perch near some feeders with this bug (cricket?) in its beak. With my 500mm the depth of field is rather shallow, but I managed the face and prey in fairly sharp focus.

Delightful, Chuck - unusual green colour, bright eye nice pose and very interesting activity.
Well-done!

This is pretty awesome, almost like a macro shot! Using f/6.3 looks like it really helped here. I don’t mind the body and feet being OOF at all. Head and prey look great, as does the perch and background. I’d be thrilled with this. Only suggestion is that I’d try a less boxy crop.

A wild looking bird, Chuck. With that color it ought to be working road construction. That pose is rather hard on shallow depth of field, but you nailed the focus where it needed to be. Well done.
