Aren’t these beautiful little birds? I just LOVE all the gorgeous birds in CR.
Nice pose, fine detail. The BG in the larger image is a bit noisy and might benefit from another round of NR. I know the CR canopy is very often very dense and dark sometimes, requiring a high ISO to get any light. Thank God for the newer NR programs.
You might consider brightening the greens on the moss further, to add some interest below the bird.
Nice image, David!
Nice job, David. This was one of my favorite tanagers down there, though they have lots of gorgeous ones. I know you’ve backed off from a lot of the extra AI software because it was creating ugly artifacts, but I’ve had good success with DxO PureRaw for noise reduction right at the beginning of my work flow. I don’t use the latest option as it seems to take forever. I just use DeepPrime and that seems to do the trick.
Gorgeous bird with very nice light – even if it was very low! I don’t know your NR workflow but I’ll bet this could be redone with less noise. Whatever program works is the right one. The blacks are a little crushed, especially noticeable on the perch. Bringing up detail at high ISO can be a challenge but the new NR programs can work wonders with noisy darks. The LR > PS workflow is to use NR on first opening in PS. Topaz Denoise at the Severe Noise algorithm can handle a lot. I’m not familiar with DxO but assume it is very capable.
When I opened it to check the histogram, it is in Adobe RGB. sRGB will show the colors more accurately. There is a blob of different texture and color right of the breast two-thirds of the way to the right edge. Denoise first then do any cloning on the clean layer. Maybe some Vibrance on the perch? And a look at highlight recovery in raw along with bringing up darks? A very worthy image for just a bit more work.
Hi David, a fine looking bird giving you a nice pose. Agree on the use of noise reduction. I use DXO Pure Raw. The BG looks good except for an artifact on the right just above the perch. Subject is well placed in the frame and the perch is interesting also.
Hi David
Very pretty. The framing and feather detail are very nice. You can get a 30 day trial copy of DXO PureRaw and for a ISO of 6,500 I would try both Prime and DeepPrime to see which one looks best. Dennis is correct you can go out for a coffee by the time DeepPRIME XD is finished. Or just buy a new supper computer
