Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Rainy days are for fun with filters! A fairly run-of-the mill Great Egret image, dipped into the oil painting , watercolour, and several other filters, all with lots of adjustments until I was satisfied.
I used to paint and sketch a lot, and this really satisfies that old longing.

Specific Feedback

all comments welcome.
Please be open-minded! I know many don’t appreciate this type of intervention, and that’s fine. The old Photo Art category died because of lack of interest, so maybe I can revive part of it in Abstract.

Nicely done!! This sort of stuff appeals to me, too. I’ve got to find time to look for a Corel Painter reincarnation.

Fine job! I do the same thing with some of my bird shots. I’ve been an artist all my life and find this fun to do. Photoshop, Painter, then back to photoshop. This is very “painterly” and looking like a real oil painting.

Very nicely done, Sandy. An interesting rendition of the egret and excellent use of filters. For those who ever had the old Topaz Studio (or even earlier iterations), you can still go back and download them from their site, though they’re no longer supported. As long as you have your user id and password, I believe you can get the activation code off their site if you no longer have it.

Dennis - Yeah, I still have it and go back to use it sometimes. With Topaz, once you buy something, it’s there forever, and even free upgrades for awhile.
Thanks for the comment !
