Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I caught this CA quail marching thru our backyard in the late afternoon sun. I never tire of seeing these fine looking birds… and trying for a capture.

Specific Feedback

Does the BG at his head need any adjusting? There’s the black topknot, and the white forehead. I decided not to attempt any brightness adjusting in that area. What say you? Anything else?

Nice catch Dave. I like the straight on stance but wish the bird wasn’t facing away from us. The head and topknot look fine to me. I could see darkening the upper BG.
