Fall Flicker

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got this guy out back while ago. I happened to already be standing there when he flew in, otherwise I never would’ve gotten him in my crosshairs. When a flicker is there first and I try to step in for a shot it never works. They bolt every time. He was in out black oak tree which is in its raging fall colors right now.

Specific Feedback

It was a sunny morning and the leaves were brightly showing. I decided that I liked them all aglow like this and left them alone. Too much? What say you?

Technical Details

Z9, 180-600 lens, monopod, 1/1000th, f 8.5, 675mm, ISO 1400, cropped to 2357 x 2595

Dave, this is an amazing shot of the bird. I like that I can see his polka dot belly and the beautiful tail feathers. He is also very sharp against the background. In my opinion the background is too bright. I love the brilliant foliage too, but here, it caused my eye to move away from the bird. You caught this guy at a nice angle.

Cool background, Dave. The pose works well in this one.
